Fly-tipping

Another social challenge faced in Caterham and within the Village has been fly-tipping.
When fly-tipping starts - it rapidly spreads and it does not take long for an enormous pile of rubbish to collect. Even an old Christmas tree, a broken microwave or an old car battery left outside a property can encourage random fly-tipping. The VA has already removed many fly-tipped items which incurs fees and costs. This therefore impacts us all.
To avoid this, please immediately report any fly-tipping incidents to the Warden and, for larger domestic waste, please use the council services to remove these items from the Village.
Fly-tipping is a criminal offence punishable by a fine of up to £50,000 or 12 months imprisonment if convicted in a Magistrates' Court. The offence can attract an unlimited fine and up to 5 years imprisonment if convicted in a Crown Court.
