The VA held their Directors meeting on Thurs 26th September. The following headline topics were discussed.

  • General maintenance projects inside The Village

This included an update on the repairs to the Southern boundary wall - along with updates on bins, car park repairs and upgrades to signage.

The Brigade Place Cedec project still waits for input from the Conservation Officer. The VA Autumn Newsletter highlighted the concerns that the VA have relating to the poor level of maintenance of the properties and land under CBCT responsibility.

  • Speed limits

New ’20 mph – Dead slow’ signs have been installed.

  • Bus route signage

New ‘Strictly No Parking – Public Bus Route’ signs have been installed on the entrance / exit to Brigade Place.

  • Wardens / Anti-social behaviour

The Warden Service updated the VA Directors on the current situation around The Village. Since the introduction of ‘double manning’ shifts there has been a noticeable reduction in anti-social behaviour.

  • Tree works

Tree works around The Village continue with work on the specific trees which were prioritised in the tree survey which was created earlier in 2019.

  • Planning applications

The car wash planning application made by Tesco has been withdrawn.

  • Double Yellow lines

Surrey County Council have approved the installation of the requested double yellow lines and have now marked pavements in advance of final painting. It is expected that this will be completed in the next few months.

  • AGM preparations

The AGM will be held on Tues 26th November at 7pm in Elizabeth Court Care Home and is open to all residents of The Village.

Full details can be found in the VA Autumn newsletter and on thevillageassociation.org website. VA Members will be notified directly by Hazelvine.

The VA aims to operate as transparently as possible and welcomes any residents comments by email to office@thevillageassociation.org
