Hi! We’re the team at Their Voice…

Many residents may not be aware that Their Voice, a vital charity supporting survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking, is based right here in The Pavilion. As a community, we have an opportunity to raise awareness of these hidden crimes and support those affected by them.

What Does Their Voice Do?

Their Voice operates with the mission of alleviating poverty and empowering survivors. As a not-for-profit organisation, every donation and act of support goes directly towards helping individuals rebuild their lives.

The charity achieves this through:

✔ Providing essential items – Supplying clothing, baby equipment, educational packs and hygiene products to ease financial pressure and offer stability.

✔ Empowerment workshops – Offering life skills sessions, guidance and art therapy to help survivors heal and regain confidence.

✔ Raising awareness – Educating the public about human trafficking to encourage vigilance and action against exploitation.

The Growing Need for Support

Modern slavery remains a hidden crisis in the UK. According to the Global Slavery Index 2023, an estimated 122,000 people were living in modern slavery in the UK in 2021. In 2023, the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) received 17,004 referrals of potential victims—its highest-ever annual figure. Alarmingly, 78% of these cases involved children, with a 138% increase in child trafficking cases between 2019 and 2023.

Economic hardship, rising living costs and organised crime have increased vulnerability to exploitation. Many victims are lured with false promises, only to find themselves trapped in forced labour, sexual exploitation, or domestic servitude. Online platforms, AI scams and global conflicts have further complicated efforts to combat modern slavery.

By providing immediate relief and long-term support, Their Voice helps survivors move towards a future of independence and self-sufficiency.

Our Impact Last Year

In 2024, Their Voice has:

🔹 Distributed over £164,603 worth of essential items to those in need.

🔹 Supported 1,838 individuals, from newborns to adults affected by the horrors of modern slavery.

🔹 Provided tailored clothing packs for 1,101 people, restoring their dignity and choice.

🔹 Assisted 683 individuals facing hygiene poverty with toiletries and personal care items.

🔹 Continued our Back to School initiative, equipping children and young adults with essential supplies to continue their education with confidence.

Direct feedback from beneficiaries highlights the impact:

🗣 “It helped me feel more supported, improved my hygiene and health.”

🗣 “It reduced my stress, improved my confidence, and gave me a sense of dignity.”

How Can You Help?

Their Voice relies on community support to continue its life-changing work. You can help by donating:

✔ New or excellent-condition children and adult clothing

✔ Toiletries and makeup

✔ Children’s toys and blankets

✔ Prams, cots and buggies

Volunteers are also greatly needed, whether to assist with sorting donations, fundraising, or raising awareness.
